The Division of Nephrology at the University of Utah is offering a one-year AST accredited Transplant Nephrology Fellowship position for the academic year 2025-2026. This program fulfills the requirements established by the Organ Procurement & Transplantation Network (OPTN) for individuals to serve as the Primary Kidney Transplant Physician for any transplant program in the U.S.
The trainee will gain clinical experience in all aspects of pre-kidney and pancreas transplant evaluation, inpatient and outpatient transplant recipient management, donor evaluation, kidney graft biopsy, donor offers etc. Fellows will attend didactic lectures, journal clubs, clinical conferences, M&M conferences, donor organ conference review meetings, QAPI meetings, Selection committee meetings, and pathology conferences.
Training under the standard fellowship rotation will also include:
·2 weeks human leukocyte antigen (HLA) laboratory rotation
·2 weeks pathology rotation at the University of Utah
·1 month pediatric rotation at Primary Children’s Hospital
·1 month research rotation
Our program offers two different tracks to fulfill these requirements:

Paid Time Off The Trainee shall receive three weeks (15 working days) of paid annual vacation, and one week (5 working days) of paid annual personal/professional development time which must be scheduled with the approval of the Program Director.
Call Schedule One weekday call (only transplant related, no general nephrology call)/week when on inpatient service, no weekend call.

Requirements
Candidates must have completed or be on track to complete an accredited US general nephrology fellowship. Candidates must have completed either an accredited US internal medicine residency or non-US internal medicine residency (alternate pathway)
