Company Overview
Kidney Care Center is a multi-office nephrology practice with offices in six states and over 50 providers. Each office is their own entity which receives support services from the main Kidney Care Center outside of Chicago.

Our organization is honored to serve End-Stage Renal Disease/ Chronic Kidney Disease patients. We believe that better healthcare outcomes are achieved through nurturing a patient-physician relationship based on open communication and a clear explanation of treatment options.
Company History
The story begins with a single-specialty nephrology practice in 2004, Joliet, IL. Tunji Alausa, MD, Chief Medical Officer & Executive Chairman, founded the practice starting as a solo nephrologist. The practice was initially named "Germane Nephrology".
Looking into the future, Dr. Alausa realized that a single physician practice, or even a multi-physician single-location practice was not going to stand the test of survival going into the future. So, almost two decades ago Dr. Alausa made a calculated pragmatic decision to expand Germane Nephrology. The first physician who joined Germane Nephrology in Joliet then was Mohammad S. Shafi, MD, who is now a senior partner and co-owner of the company. Germane Nephrology expanded in Joliet to four nephrologists before expanding into other markets.
With strategic expansion and now being a multi-physician/multi-location nephrology practice, it was decided to rebrand the company Kidney Care Center in 2010.
