Description
Kidney Hypertension Transplant Specialists is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Nephrologist to join our growing and well-established private nephrology practice in San Antonio, Texas. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive kidney care across outpatient clinics, hospitals, dialysis facilities, and interventional nephrology settings.
This position offers a unique opportunity to practice the full spectrum of nephrology, including chronic kidney disease management, hypertension, dialysis care, transplant follow-up, hospital consultations, and interventional nephrology procedures.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive outpatient nephrology care for patients with chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, glomerular diseases, and acute kidney injury.
Manage patients receiving hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and home dialysis therapies.
Perform hospital consultations and inpatient nephrology rounding.
Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, transplant teams, primary care physicians, and specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
Participate in call coverage and inpatient nephrology services as assigned.
Perform and/or assist with interventional nephrology procedures, including:
Fistulograms
Angioplasty of dialysis access
Tunneled dialysis catheter placements and removals
Temporary dialysis catheter placements
Paracentesis procedures
Ultrasound-guided vascular access procedures
Additional interventional nephrology procedures based on training and credentialing
Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation within the electronic medical record.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and dialysis facility medical management.
Provide patient and family education regarding kidney disease prevention and treatment options.
Requirements
Qualifications
Required:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO)
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine Residency
Completion of an ACGME-accredited Nephrology Fellowship
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Nephrology
Eligible for unrestricted Texas medical licensure
DEA registration and eligibility for hospital credentialing
Strong clinical, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
Experience in interventional nephrology procedures
Training in dialysis access management and endovascular procedures
Experience with home dialysis programs
Experience with kidney transplant patient management
Commitment to patient-centered, evidence-based care
